Essential Oils & Exercise?
« on: September 18, 2015, 04:50:50 PM »
Hi,

I am trying to do some research into how essential oils can assist with exercise.  For example with reducing muscle pain and boosting energy levels.  Can anyone advise any suggestions of how essential oils can help with exercise please?

My company has a product that uses eucalyptus essential oil and a custom lung cleanser kit that can open airways and give you better stamina and performance.  http://glacierpointeglobal.com

A small amount of black pepper oil is known for its warming effects which help promote circulation in the body. It can help soothe any aches and pains, whilst helping improve the recovery time.

I know that I read on how peppermint oil before a workout helps with athletes being able to do more reps by  slowing the buildup of lactic acid in our muscles. You know how sometimes you are working out and you just cannot do any more?
The other obvious thing is after a workout when you are sore, peppermint oil has natural analgesic properties that help with temporary discomfort after a workout.

There are a variety of essential oils that help treat muscle inflmmation, sore muscles or brusies. The most popular essential oils for the situation would include lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus and peppermint. These oils have great antispasmodic and anti inflammatory effects that can help relieve muscle pain.

Some great recipes for physical pain would include:

10 Drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
6 Drops of Juniper Berry Essential Oil
8 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
1 1/2 ounces (About 45 ml) of Apricot Kernel Carrier Oil

Mix the oils together and massage over sore area.

Another great recipe would be:

2 Drops of Ginger Essential Oil
4 Drops of Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
3 Drops of Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
15 ml of Apricot Kernel Carrier Oil

Mix the oils together and massage over sore area. This recipe is also great after a hard work out session.

I hope this helps in someway!  :)
