Dilution
« on: October 13, 2015, 04:33:25 PM »
I have been reading a lot of recipes for children blends.
I have also read what % should be used for children blends.
Example for 2oz bottle 15 drops max but I am seeing over 30 drops in recipes.
For a 10mil looks as if 1 drop is max.

What do you know?

Hello,

I use the following dilutions with my children and they work fine:

0.5% for children aged between 3 & 7;  (1 drop EO in 10mL).
1%-1.5% for kids between 7 & 12.  (1 drop EO in 5mL).

Always perform a skin patch test to check for sensitisation when using any oil or natural product for the first time.

Going with 1 drop in 10 ml of carrier oil:

If you are doing 3 different oils can you do 3 drops of each? I know at a certain point you would not want to keep adding essential oils without adding more carrier oil regardless of the 0.5% rule.

I'm going to make an eczema cream for my 1 year (almost 2) old and my 4 year old.

For 0.5%:
2C of shea/avocado with 1/2t of essential oil

So could I do the following?

For my 1 year old:
1/2t -- Lavender
1/2t -- Chamomile

For my 4 year old:
1/4t -- Lavender
1/4t -- Frankincense
1/8t -- Tea Tree
1/8t -- Myrrh

Thoughts?
